January 2023 Update

Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to bring back a miniature train to Zilker Park. We want to acknowledge the KUT story about the Zilker train that you might have seen or heard last week. Our goal was to be as transparent as possible in talking about the challenges we have encountered since we were first asked to bring back the Zilker Eagle. We will continue to be transparent and are happy to answer any questions you have.

Our last communication was in October 2022 and we shared at that point that we anticipated not having an operational train until fall of 2023 at the earliest. We are continuing to work as hard as possible to have a working train as early and safely as possible. Here’s an overview of what we’ve been working on:

• Engaged with Square One consultants to help with project management in finding a new train provider
• Spoken with train operators in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana and California in search of a provider that could meet our needs
• Met with five train manufacturers and received proposals from two of them

We will continue to share updates with all of our stakeholders and the public, as they become available. We are truly thankful for your ongoing support and patience.
